The big numbers on COVID-19 cases are already coming from Nigeria as the country reported 2,132 cases in the last 48 hours.
This is the second-highest single-day jump in infections since the pandemic began.
A tally released by Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), verified ny Platforms Africa, showed that the country recorded 1,133 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday. The figure rose to 999 on Tuesday.
The Wednesday tally marked the second time the country’s daily new cases reached four figures — and is the second-highest single-day jump in infections since the pandemic began.
The NCDC also recorded five more Coronavirus-related deaths on Wednesday.
Thus, it comes after the country reported more than 2,000 new cases in within 48 hours for the first time.
